Robot Surgery Center

Continuous updating is an essential part of Centro Médico ABC medical practice. Robot-assisted surgery is a procedure that has been performed since 2001 and is becoming more and more frequent, due to the advantages it offers over laparoscopic surgery.

Robot surgery allows for more precise surgical interventions using robotic instruments and an endoscopic video camera, maintaining at all times a three-dimensional view of the surgical field and the maneuvers performed.

Robot Surgery System
More than 650 robot-assisted surgeries since 2017

The robot system that is used in operating rooms, does not perform independent movements without human monitoring, is rather a computer-assisted surgery system, which is operated and controlled by a surgeon, so the robot does not replace the surgeon, but it rather constitutes a tool that assists you under your supervision.

The Da Vinci System is the one we use at Centro Médico ABC and has three components:

Console

It is the place where the surgeon sits from where it can observe the operating field and also manipulate the robot from a remote location.

Optical three-dimensional vision tower

It contains the necessary computer equipment to integrate the left and right optical channels that give the stereoscopic vision, in addition to running the software that controls the arms’ kinetics. It also has other instruments such as the insufflator and video equipment.

Surgery trolley

It has 4 arms, the first two represent the surgeon's right and left arm, the third (central arm) positions the video-telescope, the fourth (optional) can be fixed and allows the surgeon to hold another instrument.

Three-dimensional vision

Because each eye or the surgeon is linked to a separate camera, the human brain processes each image giving the surgeon the perception of depth.

High precision movements

The robot arms cancel out any tremors present in the surgeon's hands to ensure total accuracy throughout the procedure.

Extended range of motion

The range of motion of your arms exceeds the range of motion of human hands.

Minimal invasion, faster recoveries

Robot Surgery allows a minimal invasion to reduce complications, shorten the hospital stay, minimize postoperative pain and accelerate recovery so that the patient can return to their daily activities more quickly.

Robot Surgery Committee

The use of our surgical robot is strictly supervised by the Robotic Surgery Committee, which supervises the optimal training of the personnel involved in its management, the indications for use in certain procedures, its execution and the results obtained by the different surgeons.
